Actually robot security guards. I've seen K5s in Mountain View, California in a couple of parking lots. Great picking off assholes who were parking in handicapped parking spots. They have great potential as security robots that run registrations instantly to nail unregistered vehicles by immediately notifying police, taking pictures of people in malls and recognizing wanted criminals through instant facial recognition software and notifying police, and many other things. As a law-abiding person they are just funny to look at. As a criminal, they are a nightmare.

Knightscope, a security startup that deploys 400-pound autonomous robots in office campuses, sports venues, and more, is expanding nationwide. It's inking deals with mall operators and software firms like Microsoft.

Utilizing numerous sensors, lasers and a significant amount of code, the K5 can roam a geo-fenced area autonomously (meaning not remote-controlled) on its own randomly or based on a particular patrolling algorithm. It can successfully navigate around people and objects in a dynamic environment outdoors.
