SHOCKER: Minimum Wage BOOSTS Employment In Seattle

tl;dw version: employment has grown sinificantly since the wage increase. the famous study that published the opposite excluded multi-chain stores, which caused bogus figures. it's fine to raise prices to cover the additional labor expense because all your customers have more money to spend anyway.

Is this guy docking retarded? He's happy that small businesses are losing business even faster to large corporations?

And yes, minimum wage laws goes against my ideology. I get to set the price I'm willing to pay someone for working with me, because it's my freedom to do so. It doesn't belong in the hands of a government bureaucrat. It belongs as a private negotiation between two parties.

Fuck this jackoff.

A 2012 study by the Tax Justice Network indicates that wealth of the super-rich does not trickle down to improve the economy, but it instead tends to be amassed and sheltered in tax havens with a negative effect on the tax bases of the home economy.

Don't be retarded and put words in my mouth. Welfare is completely bullshit and skews the price of labor. Food stamps, welfare and the rest of the Robin Hood programs are completely unjust.

Further, Trump is an idiot, I'm an atheist and the protection of citizens from an evil government should be everyone's priority, however I don't own a gun nor do I plan to.

Done putting words in my mouth? Instead, why don't you ask me how I arrived at such different conclusions than yours?

You make your assumption that without government programs, people would be worse off. You can't know that because social welfare SKEWS the data. What you don't see in that number are people who are abusing that system. And what you aren't even talking about... Is that the entire basis of a successful society is freedom. Not just "freedom to do whatever you want", but freedom to pursue one's happiness without affecting the right of others.

In short, people should be free to negotiate, in private how and when they contract with each other.

Also, people should be free from coercion and the use of force to wrestle away, at the end of fun, their hard earned property.

problem with that is that every one of your customers then also gets their wage freely set by their employer. what are you going to do when people can't afford to buy anything from you because they don't get paid enough? you actually lose more money if you have low wages, because that means everybody else has low wages too.

I don't know much about the economics but the minimum wage has gone up a lot here in NZ in recent years. It's now about USD$11 which is more than it sounds, maybe equivilent to about $14 in American economic terms.

The only problem I see is that you're elligable to it at 16 years old. I think a rate for 16-20 of a bit less could work better. Then we could have more employable young people, giving people more options than to stay in school & head towards large student loans in a saturated tertiary education market.
