Just wanted to add one more thing to this -- Nancy Reagan is a bitch.

Unfortunately, the presumption of progress over time as a given is a falsehood.

I've seen very, very few laws built around silencing people.  I will back this up by stating that the current most powerful person in the world was elected to the office of President because he "says what he means".  Where is the silencing coming from?  Is it perhaps coming from Republicans who want to police how transgendered people choose which bathroom to go into?  Is it perhaps coming from The Religious Right who want to take away a woman's right to choose?  Is it perhaps the Vice President of the United States of America who supports "religious freedom", aka "we hate fags", mindset?

Where exactly is it originating from on The Left?  A bunch of college hipsters who wield absolutely no power?  Some Millennial ranter on Facebook?

Let me know when you can point out where James Damore wrote that men are smarter than women in his google(Gulag) manifesto. Judging by how quickly you responded to my petty comment presumably means you know that your interpretation of what he wrote was inaccurate; http://www.spikednation.com/videos/googles-hidden-agenda-obv#comment-2603

I believe that the current state of the internet has severely pushed everyone in their “tribalistic” corners. Now that everyone has an opinion to shed, it can be promoted on the social media karaoke stage. After a while the internet starts to self-legitimize peoples political tribalism’s which in turn portend to be all there is...just their leanings constantly trying to warn and eclipse each other. Meaning that all the grey zones and profound thinking gets lost in the absolutism. I can even use this site as a perfect example. All the political videos posted are pretty puritanical when it comes to partisan ideology. I'm not even on facebook, but hear from friends how shocking their leanings or opinions are. Meanwhile in my limited experience, memory and level of political literary consumption. I can't fathom how stringent the bi-partisan past was structured. It had more edges, coherent problems and diversity on how it was evolving. Even during the Reagan/republican era. This truly is the age of tribalism and I think that it HAS affected the Trump phenomena. Traditional media is losing its influential grasp and the people's opinions are chaotic, confused and bound together with what makes most sense to them. They (we) are constantly searching for moral clarity and we now carry in our pockets, the most powerful communal connective device in our species history. It's no wonder people are clinging to an immediate familiarity to their superficial view of the world and how it should be socially operating.
