Yeah, it's one of the better ones by a good stretch. Long story format is much more engrossing than monster of the week format. I'm not usually tuned into this, but the costume design is good enough for me to notice. They are just so well done. So many fantasy and sci fi shows look like they re use old wardrobes. Like, the Shanara Chronicles and The Badlands. Pleather for days!
I wouldn't call it hard sci fi though. It's a near future solar political opera, not terrifically well acted, but not so bad as to be distracting. TNG had some occasional shit acting, but The Expanse is at least solid. The writing and general setting carries it. Also, Shohreh Aghdashloo is very watchable, much like Thomas Jane. Just enjoyable on the screen. Also, it's weird, but she's kinda sexy in the new jumpsuit. I'll bet she was a fox when she was younger.
