He was not "responsible for the death of several thousand American servicemen". Even the liars in your government & their media stenographers put the figure at ~600 but that's also a gross exaggeration. The Shia militia who killed ~600 troops were in large part extremist elements of the Mahdi Army who've never been very close with Iran. The AFPs that killed a lot of troops have never been linked to Iran outside of fabrications by anti-Iran warhawks in your government.

You also repeat the line about him being recently responsible for attacks on Americans. Which Americans? Are you talking about the K-1 base? Where is the proof? There are a multitude of groups that could have been behind that attack and no evidence has surfaced showing who did it.

The idea that he was planning attacks on US targets is another line from your government with no evidence supporting it.

Your logic justifying his assassination is flawed & shows your typical American thinking of "take out the bad guy and all the problems go away". He wasn't Batman or some kind of super villian acting alone. If there was a risk of Iranian-backed operations against US targets before, how in the fuck does killing General Soleimani reduce that risk?

Get more informed & curb your "nationalist boner". Your shithole empire should never have been in Iraq. Crying about what you think happened to the invading troops while they took part in a war crime is weak.

He did nothing that countless people from your country do every day. Is it justified to kill them too?

Do you really need me to answer that stupid qeustion you posed? Sure, why the fuck not? Happens all the time, you just dont hear about it as much and its usually under the guise of being a contractor or tourist or some other shit and the other claiming they are spies. Anyone acting covertly to kill innocent people deserves the same when the time comes. If you put yourself in that position then I wont have any sympathy when you die. Did you really need me to say that?

Yes, I want to hear your logic. I understand but disagree, hopefully you'll read why below....

acting covertly to kill innocent people

1. He wasn't acting covertly, he was known - the head of the IRGC Qods Force.

2. Some Iraqis who were part of groups with ties to Qods Force likely did kill American soldiers during the US occuption of Iraq, although there is no proof & it's largely a narrative that started with Dick Cheney when he wanted to go to war with Iran. I can see why it pisses you off but those are legit military targets, not "innocent people". "Innocent people" are the 500k Iraqi children the US killed with economic warfare prior to the invasion.

What's not a legit target is a high ranking official from a country you're not at war with, travelling on a diplomatic mission in a country who you're allied with.

By murdering him in the open like that the following problems arise:

1. The US broke the Vienna Conventions (big time) & set a terrible precedent

2. It puts American lives at risk all over the world

3. It only enhanced his brand - he's now a household name around the world & god-tier in the region

4. Strategically it's made things much worse for the US in the region because it's energised a resistance that will look to get you outa there on their terms.

5. Strategically it's neutered the US programs that aimed to destabalise Iran with the ultimate aim of toppling the regime. They now have a new tool in their toolbox at a time when they were under a lot of domestic pressure. Same goes or anti-Iran programs in Iraq.

We dont know why he was killed, you dont have anymore access to classified intel then I do, so all we have to go on is what the Trump admin and the Pentagon says, and being that I live in the USA and NOT Iran, Im going to side with the USA intel for now. Again fuck Iran. The intel as of now is that General Salami had a hand in the attack on our embassy and was planning more shit and getting pretty bold about it. Seems like a legit target to me. I dont really care, he put himself in that situation, he knew the USA was targeting him but yet he walks around Iraq like he was invincible, well he got what he deserved. As of now there is nothing that says this General Salami was NOT a legit target, even the dems are aggreeing with Trump and they just impeached the motherfucker! Iran has been and always will target Americans, nothing new there! I think Bush invading Iraq and Afganistan broke the Veinna Conventions a long time before Trump, the precedent was already set. It was a bitchslap to the face of Iran and its been a long time coming! Again FUCK IRAN!

Blindly siding with 'the US intel' got you into Iraq, Vietnam & a bunch more.

NO, Congress voting to go to war based on bad intel and lies got us into those wars and jsut about every war. This was and is NOT the case here. Trump cannot go to war without Congress. The US President does not need Congress to take down a target that poses a threat to Americans.

You have a lot of faith in the people who spent 2 years leaking conspiracy theories about Russia to fuck with the president, just got caught lying about CW use in Syria, sold wahhabi mercenaries like al Qaeda as Moderate Rebels(TM) while arming them to topple the Syrian govt...the list is endless.

"This time it's different" doesn't cut it.

Pompeo hid behind the war powers act in order not to disclose the intel to congress in a closed session & say he doesn't know when or where "a series of attacks" were to take place...seems legit!

You fucking drunk or something? I never said I trusted anybody, I was explaining TO YOU how OUR political system works! Congress would need to vote to go to war, Trump has the power to act if its an imminent threat, which he says it was, which makes it legal and constitutional. I never said I beleive him, I said I really dont care! LOL  Fuck Iran and Fuck that Salami guy!

ah, my bad. I thought you said "not the case here" re: the "bad intel".

Trump can wage war on anything he likes for 60 days before he needs Congress to get involved, that's my understanding...

The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30-day withdrawal period, without a congressional authorization for use of military force (AUMF) or a declaration of war by the United States.

He IS the commander in chief. Every military base and office I've been in would have the top Generals then Bush at the top, meaning he IS in charge of the military. The president can deploy troops and ordinances where-ever he chooses AS long as there is an imminent threat but he cannot declare war, that is Congress' job. Always has been and always will be the case. I dont think the Dumbocrats know how to read or have never bothered to read the Constitution, this resolution they passed basically says this and has no power to do anything and in fact might be Un-Constitutional! Its really just for show. Again, I am NOT saying I agree or believe the intel, Im telling you how the process works. Trump cannot go to war or declare war! But if an embassy was under seige or Americans held captive in Iran he could send troops or bomb who ever where ever for 60 days with 30 days to withdraw before he has to go to congress.

Congress hasn't declared war since WWII.

The Terrorist Numero Uno can pretty much commit as many atrocities as he pleases & there are no real repercussions. This lip service Congress passed today changes nothing. That's what it looks like anyway.

Yeah, pretty much! Since WWII all those "wars" were "protracted engangments". Still needed Congress' approval, which they did, and of which this Congress's recent resolution did nothing to change that. Quite frankly I dont think they should! The president was voted in to have the power of what that position holds, which is the power of the military. If China sends a nuke he doesnt have to wait for Congress approval to send 4000 right back. Has it been abused, yes, and Congress has had the power to stop it but they did NOT! Now if Trump just woke up one day and decided to drop a nuke on North Korea for no good reason, then I would bet he'd be charged with war crimes. But if NK nukes Japan and Trump sends over 4000 nukes up Kims ass, then all would be legal and justified. As for this Salami guy being taken out, he was on Iraqi soil NOT Iran, he has a history of doing some pretty bad shit etc... I think it would be more of a problem if he was taken out while he was in Iran Trump would be facing some legal issues. I think this has more to do with the politics of war anyway as most warring nations hardly ever go after top brass or politicains, the code of war is to send the poor people in to do the fighting for them. It sends a bad message that top brass could be taken out, might deter top brass from starting wars! Ahhhh, see that! See what I did there! Just like how the world will come down on Iran for shooting down a fucking passenger civilian plane, what if their were diplomats on that plane from Russia or China? The top brass and diplomats and war profiteers need to be able to travel in planes safely, otherwise wars might not happen soo much! Ahhh, I did it again! See, there might be some great things coming out of this!

You're jumbling up morality & legality. Justification is subjective. Power is more the reason DPRK would be on the hook for using nukes but you guys wouldn't.

War crimes don't even apply to Americans. You have a law that requires the military to attack the Hague in the event of a trial & another law to prevent anyone investigating war crimes from entering your country.

Iran won't be punished for the shooting down of the jet, regardless of who did it. You've already spent your only option - economic warfare. Your next move is to try & foment more unrest there in an effort to topple the regime. It won't work.

There's a saying in Iran: Iranians play chess, Americans play gridiron.

There's a letter your government just wrote to Iraq in reply to them requesting you send an envoy there to discuss your departure. Your letter seems to completely ignore their sovereignty & say you're going to re-occupy their country...

Now, if this was 2011, it might work. Maybe. But this is not 2011. Iraq has 150k+ battle-ready PMF fighters who want you out. For perspective, during the height of the Sunni insurgency you had 250k troops vs 40k insurgents. You now have ~50k troops in the entire region & only 6k in the country to prevent that US embassy from being deleted. And you just lost 6+ Apaches yesterday.
