That would be too good for the likes of them.  Daisy was the 5th dog in the area they had killed. Can we bring skinning alive back?

You hear his voice on the 911 call? His dog was just shot - his day-to-day companion that integral to dealing with issues resulting from his war experience. That's the sound of a man with fearless personality condition - he's just as upset as anyone over what has happened, but he reacts with a calculating, almost calm, acceptance that now these two people will have their lives ended IF he catches them first. That's what happens next - there's no question, no fear, in terms of concern about the fact that they are two armed psychopaths, and the grief over his dead dog in no way interferes with the mission at hand - killing the dudes who killed his dog.

There was a similar case of a dude who was ex-army, and a martial arts expert (who trained the police) and he came home one day to find his fiance hanging in the closet, dead. Suicide. Because he had no target for his rage, he got in his truck and just started ramming parked cars, street signs - just tearing up the roads. When the police boxed him in they recognized him and attempted to subdue him. He broke the limbs of 3 officers, broke their noses, gave two others concusions and in the end it took 8 officers to secure him. At his trial, the officers whose bones he broke testified in his defense for clemency due to temporary insanity.

There's no temporary insanity. His training took over but not the reptilian portion of his brain. He had rationale enough to call the cops and help them get to these 2 imbeciles first; knowing full well that if he did (I'm agreeing with you) he would end them - and thankfully, due to the peace and love Daisy opened him back up to, he realized he had too much to live for. He avenged her and she saved him, one last time.
