Hong Kong has a tycoon problem.

The top 10 billionaires in Hong Kong have a combined net worth equivalent to 35 percent of the city’s economy, compared with ratios of 5.2 percent in India and 1.4 percent in China,

The average HKer pays 70% of his income to live in a space the size of a kitchen (140sq ft compared to US avg 800 sq ft).

And yet, the Hong Kong demonstrations have no economic demand. None at all.

This video has some details. The use of foreign flags is not widely prevalent, that part is more for Chinese consumption.

Jimmy Lai is the owner of the Next Media in HK which has publications such as the apple daily (heavily behind the protest movement - [link]). He has long portrayed himself as an anti China democracy activist since the handover and his publications have long been anti HK government and anti China.

The pic below is a strange scene. The Vice President of the USA discussing HK affairs with a media owner in HK in the White House who has no government role or duty. He also met with Pompeo and John Bolton. Think about xijinping meeting with the owner of Fox News

In 2014, Jimmy Lai and other “democracy” acvitists in HK were seen to have met with the US consul in HK. Jimmy Lai has an aide called Mark Simon whose father used to work for the CIA. It was disclosed that many pro democracy legislators have received donations from Jimmy Lai.
