why is a boy with autism bad enough that he sometimes devolves into violence endangering himself and other kids being sent to a school to be dealt with by people who aren't trained (or paid) to deal with kids with special needs? what were they supposed to do? leave him alone until he hurt his legs kicking stuff or bit another kid?

My son, on the last day of 5th grade was randomly attacked by an autistic child who picked up a chair, threw it at his head and then started swinging at him. We know of this kid and have always told our son to be nice, help, and make friends. The kid has caused severe problems in the school and is a constant distraction to the other kids. It affects their ability to learn and the teachers' ability to teach when you have to cater to the lowest common denominator. They did away with special education in my area so the options are either home school or put them in with the normal kids.
