The Mikhaila Peterson Podcast #36 - Wim Hof with Jordan Peterson

In the episode, Jordan has several difficulties with Akathisia, which is a long-term withdrawal side-effect of getting off Benzos after a Dr. had prescribed them to Jordan three times or more past the maximum recommended period of usage. My ex-girlfriend died from prescription drugs on Christmas eve, 2017, after two medications prescribed by two different doctors interacted poorly. She left behind a 9 year old daughter.

I was improperly put on a drug called Seroquil in 2014 due to a misdiagnosis of something that was merely an infection requiring a completely different kind of medication. I was on Seroquil for 1.5 years as a required condition of continuing to work my job, and then when it was discovered the whole thing was a big fucking idiot's mistake I stopped taking the Seroquil cold turkey in May 2016. You're not supposed to do that (cold turkey), but it's how I roll with this kind of shit. Anywho, a week after I stopped I strated having grand mal seizures - had two or three of those (fascinating) - and then I got Akathisia pretty bad for several months afterwards as my brain chemistry adjusted to the absence of something it had become dependent upon (the doctor told me the drug wouldn't form a dependence, and it turned out he was either lying or an idiot or both). Akathisia is something you can channel into work, but when it's time to stop working you can't relax, you can't sit still, and you can't quiet your mind. With something to focus on it's better, but in a situation like trying to sleep it's stops you entirely. Some veterans here may recall a few years ago me mentioning frequenlty that I had a lot of problems with insomnia. Not so much today. One of the things that I found could help with it was launching yourself into an extreme situation or environment - like doing a cannonball into the river off a dock in mid December. Or standing outside beneath a thunderstorm or even freezing rain. Cold shower, sure, but that's boring.

Akathisia is a movement disorder characterized by a subjective feeling of inner restlessness accompanied by mental distress and an inability to sit still. Usually, the legs are most prominently affected. Those affected may fidget, rock back and forth, or pace, while some may just have an uneasy feeling in their body.
