It's quite a good walk-through that spells out how a business artificialy makes things complex on their machines to drive their service business.

McDonalds ice cream machines are notoriously down frequently. The conclusion was that the company that manufactures them (Taylor) makes them confusing so mcdonalds manager will call a Taylor service rep to come fix for $150-$500. This is such a huge part of Taylor's business and the % of failures is incredibly high for a machine like this.

He's got lots of evidence on how Taylor is doing this. And apparently the biggest reason for the problem is that employees overfill them.

Repost of a video I did last week. The executive summary is that through a incestuous contractual agreement between McDonald's and various holding companies and the company that sells the ice cream machine it's a service scam designed to extract thousands of dollars from franchise owners because the only person who can figure out what went wrong and how to fix the machine is the service technician who charges hundreds, and I'm not kidding, hundreds of dollars per hour to come look at it.
