Yes, the ultras in cataluny definitely should be classed as terrorists. Plenty of "wannabe mercinary" tourism going on in spain, otherwise it wouldn't have been that bad.

Well some of the separatist leaders (full time politicians) have been prosecuted and sentenced in accordance with current spanish law for sedition (including call for violence I think) and embezzlement of public funds, all to do with the illegal separation referendum they organised. They received up to 13 years prison.
It was pretty clear that the verdict would be something like that (this is why some of them fled the country).
Protests and violence started almost immediately after the sentencing (before anybody even had the chance to read and comprehend the 500+ page sentencing document btw, LOL)
