If they wouldn't have been too scared to keep on developing this technology they would be WAAAAAAAYYYYY beyond where Tesla is now and Tesla wouldn't even exist.

I wish there was a FOIA for corporations so that after a period of time we could find out what the hell happened to the EV1

In 1996 arond Folsom California, my aunt worked for SMUD(Sacramento power company) and she was part of a test program for this car, she got to take it home for 3 months and basically do PR for SMUD and GM as they were interested in partnering with each other on EVs or some such program that never came to fruition. I remember riding around with her when I was a little kid in the red one she had just like this one, two seater. It was against the rules, but being as generous and cool as she was she let my mom and my 15 y/o brother drive it when he had his learners permit haha. It was really quick(for the time) and riding with my mom, she used to pull up next to guys with fixed up imports and smoke the shit out of them at red lights just to get a good laugh and for PR.
