Man Killed in Freak Elevator Accident in NYC Apartment Building | NBC New York

the video is on worldstarhiphop if you want to see it. it's not gory. for those that are good with just a description. as the door opened, the elevator started to descend, first guy quickly moved out, second guy got his feet out, hands on the outside of the elevator doors trying to pull himself out, top of the elevator came down on top of his shoulders and forced him into a squat position that he lost. doors close

Well.....What would you have done? Not much you can do in that sort of situation unless you can stop falling elevators somehow.

It will be interesting to see who will be held responsible for this. The building management company usually acts on behalf of the (community of) owner(s). Critical repairs like on an elevator should be carried out immediately. After the inspection findings I think it should have been shut down. American government is meddling with literally everything inside your private home (lahaaaaaand of the freeeeheeeeeeee) so why not with this?

I always take the stairs (even when living on the 24th. floor) much better for the heart!

I thought I was the only one. I never use escalators or elevators-within reason. I feel guilty. I might live long enough where I am forced to use them, that's when I will be a user.

Yeah I've always thought its funny that people will pay $100+/month for a gym membership but refuse to walk up a few flights of stairs.
