cop uses chip bag as bandage

Thats the dumbest shit, dont do that. A simple hand(with a sterile glove) putting pressure on it is the best he could have done. That dark blood coming out was some punctured organs, nothings stopping that except pressure to stabilize till a surgeon can get in there. Maybe some quickclot, if you got it.

Oh yeah?

The first serious first aid training I had in my life was in the Canadian forces and that's exactly how they teach to patch up a chest wound.

In fact, we all had a neat field dressing in a square kind of plastic pouch/bag which we used just like that cop did.

If that cop would have used a bunch of gauze under that chip bag, it would not have been different.

And yes, it's a good thing he did not use salt and vinegar, lol.

Oh you mean the exact thing the medics put on him @1:17? I had the same training, 11b, as well as classes I took in college. That clear plastic bandage is to stabilize for transport to an ER, all the cop had to do was apply pressure, with a glove on, and wait for medics to arrive, that MacGyver bs with the chip bag might work if thats all you got and you have a wounded soldier in a battlefield and you have no idea how long till they are evac'ed out. Not on a fucking city street with paramedics en route in a few minutes. You cant stop internal bleeding from a stab wound or a gunshot, so gauze wont help and might actually get all entangled up in the wound, best thing is to apply pressure and stabilize, or use a sterile plastic bandage like the medics did just to hold the blood. To be honest, it wasnt even bleeding that much.

Depends on the type of gauze, and if its done in the feild, or in this case the streets, you probably dont want some random person pulling out their gauze they've had in their car or pocket as it could be another source of contaminant(it could be compromised. Imagine a cashier running out with a handful of cotton balls he found under the counter and shoving them in the wound? All Im saying is that if you know paramedics are en route, within minutes, dont be using a bag of chips with packing tape. Just use a glove and your hand and wait for emts. If you are in the woods, hours from medical, or in a battlefield, by all means use what you got. All my emergency medical classes I took in college said use your fucking hand and wait for emt's.

just so were on the same page. if your kid is bleeding out and the paramedics are on the way. don't do anything. sure the ambulance could get in an accident. sure it might be delayed. but whatever you do. don't stop your kid from bleeding. by not doing anything. you're potentially doing the world a favor

OMG, having a hard time reading today? Did I say "dont do anything"? I actually said "use your fucking hand and wait for emt's." All that "bag" does is stop the blood from spilling all over and protects the wound from contamination, it does not stop the bleeding. Applying pressure, like your hand, is the best thing you can do.  I highly doubt that tape job on the bag of chips was good enough to stop the blood from spilling out, like I said, he was barely bleeding out at that time, most likely through the bodies clotting.

think about everything you've said here. like guaze getting entangled in the wound... and you're suppose to have gone to school for this. everything you talk about, is like you went to school about it but skipped out on every day of class. maybe you never went and its the lyme disease making you think you went

The bag acts as a valve so the person can breathe better.

Because the chest is punctured.

does the chip bag have anything to do with how sterile the bag would have been before they put chips in there? chip bag probably blocks the nanobots from connecting to satelites
