If you haven't followed the HK protests at all this may not make a lot of sense. Mr. Hunt = UK Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt.
UK have been making all sorts of dumb claims like that they have an obligation to HK people to help them have democracy etc. In fact HK still suffers a lot from the colonial past, 4 families rule that region going back to when the Brits had it. It's a mess that China still has to clean up.

nah they are literally arresting people for political reasons and taking them back to the mainland where the laws are different. the UK is completely right in condemning this.

The bill wasn't bad at all. They already raised the threshold to be a 7 yr sentence under HK law, and the crime had to be punishable under HK law so the idea that it would be used to target political dissidents or whatever is just nonsense. The media coverage of it has been super biased & is part of what was driving the protests.
