He missed that the amount of flares that were dispensed was absolute overkill and unrealistic. The aircraft protection system wouldn't deploy that many flares that fast. The only thing that can do that is the emergency jettison function, which would completely deplete their stores within seconds and leave them vulnerable to another missile attack.
