well yes but even the non-religious zealots have a reason - because it's immensely personally profitable to them. the money sent to israel is all public funds, and that money is spent on american weapons, which is profit for those american companies, and profit for most US politicians because they have large financial holding in those companies. it's a way to straight out take american taxpayers' money and put it directly into their own funds. a few million in dividends every year.

To be clear I was just responding to the video which is about a little battle going on in the right wing alt media sphere between cuckservatives like Jesse who steer people towards a pro-Zionism stance & the others like soph who don't drink the hasbara cool aide. Ultimately this culture war stuff is meaningless but kinda fun to poke a stick at now & then. I don't disagree with anything you said, just 1 addition....

Every state has defense contractors that receive funds & provide employment so congress critters have an obligation to keep the gravy train going for jobs in their state. Personal profits are no doubt part of it, as are campaign funds & likely a bunch of perks & cronyism. When it comes to Israel there's more than just defense contracts going on. It's Yahweh or the highway all day & everyone knows it. They start by providing free trips to freshman congressmen to Israel, give them the going over & then the Jewish lobby, which is like a Stasi in Washington DC, make sure they play ball or get black balled. It's carrot & stick stuff, not just personal profit. One of the sticks is to cut off all Jewish donors (75% of Dems, 50% of Repubs) sink major funding into the opposition candidate. To put the defense spending that loops back from Israel into perspective, they recently signed a new bill that said Israel doesn't have to spend any of it in the US and before that they were spending just a portion of it there. And it's 5-10 billion per year in spending, compared to the ~1 trillion in US defense spending (750b defense budget + ~200b war on terror slush fund + a few more things). The Israeli defense spending really isn't significant. They actually compete with US firms in things like drones.
