A for profit corporation is being hypocritical? Why I'd never...

Yeah a 'free market youtube' where almost everyone gets ads would be nice but that's not gonna happen. That's not how trickle-down economics (piss economics) works.

except that's exactly what it was until very recently. youtube used complete openness to create their monopoly, and now they have it and there's no viable alternative for creators to go to, they've shut that down. youtube was built on those exact same creators they've now decided to screw over.

Yeah it's becoming pretty clear that MS media doesn't like the competition and YT is playing along to their demands.

All this has fuck all to do with "inappropriate content".

Fuck you YouTube

The whole phenomenom of people making a living from making vlog-style videos for Youtube is pretty stupid, especially when they come to expect to get paid handsomely for it. You look at the most popular ones and they're generally complete turds who just contaminate culture.

I've kind of been thinking that as well.  It's quite an entitled mindset to think that one should get paid for making little skits.

They weren't getting paid by YouTube for doing little skits. They were getting paid for bringing a certain amount of individual eyes to one place where ads could be placed in front of them.

These people would probably do it anyway, either because they want the attention or because having large followings on YT is like any social media, it give you a certain amount of merketing pedegree to pull it off. Only guy I don't mind is Pewdiepie because he seems realer than any of these other tryhards.

I kinda liked WKUK they reminded me of Kids in the Hall. In fact they started to suck after they left the youtube platform as they seemed to have less fun with their comedic concepts. Old youtube seemed like a do it yourself stage. Which initially is great IMO. But just like everything that money runs, it gets tainted and confined in a greed system.

The top youtubers are usually shit, but there also a huge "middle class" that produces quality stuff and can do so because they get paid for it. If you get the subs then I'd say you deserve the money, no matter how shitty the content is.

Not happy with youtube? post your shit on other sites.

All this has been contaminated by commerce, look at ebay, once a site where one flogged off 2nd hand stuff, now a place for selloing all sorts of shit (bulk or not) by companies.

I am a hypocrite, though as I use it. In contrary to watching opinion channels......
