Face Masks are for Idiots

personality aside, she's right about the masks, they don't do shit against viruses.

japan has been wearing masks for years and we've never seen any benefit, and we're now experiencing a resurgence in the virus.

no randomized clinical study ever has found any correlation between mask use and reduced virus transmission. instead they've found the opposite, just to give a few examples (direct quotes so google if you want the source):

“There were 17 eligible studies. … None of the studies established a conclusive relationship between mask/respirator use and protection against influenza infection.”

"While there is some experimental evidence that masks should be able to reduce infectiousness under controlled conditions, there is less evidence on whether this translates to effectiveness in natural settings. There is little evidence to support the effectiveness of face masks to reduce the risk of infection."

and no it doesn't matter if it's a surgical mask or N95:

“We identified six clinical studies … . In the meta-analysis of the clinical studies, we found no significant difference between N95 respirators and surgical masks in associated risk of laboratory-confirmed respiratory infection, influenza-like illness, or reported work-place absenteeism.”

dentists have been wearing mask for many years and they actually get more flu than the rest of us. studies found that have a lot more flu antibodies than the general population.

also many people think surgeons wear masks to prevent infection, but this isn't true at all, it's to prevent blood splashing on them.

"It has never been shown that wearing surgical face masks decreases postoperative wound infections. ... After 1,537 operations performed with face masks, 73 (4.7%) wound infections were recorded and, after 1,551 operations performed without face masks, 55 (3.5%) infections occurred."

not only do they not work, how could they work? viruses are 0.1um in size while the smallest pores of the best masks are 0.3um. some claim electrostatic attraction of small particles but the force of breath through these small pores is larger than any possible electrostatic force. others claim the masks catch large breath droplets which contain the virus, but of course these dry out within minutes and the virus contained inside is then free to go straight though the mask.

the push for masks is purely political, to keep people feeling safe enough to avoid shutting down and the economic effects of that.

here's how well masks have worked for japan and korea, and all the stuff that masks don't stop even temporarily.

LOLOL WOW. Explains a lot.

You still use this pic taken from a GIF I posted months ago. Don't see any difference? None? Your thinking is a big part of the problem.

The virus attaches itself to the water droplets.

The water droplets are expelled in a large arosol mushroom cloud and virus remains viable for longer, and spreads to a wider area, when someone sneizes while wearing the type of mask everyone is wearing. When not wearing a mask, more droplets are expeled but they move generally in one direction, strike a surface quickly, and die rapidly. Masks are good idea in grocery stores, especially the produce section, since surfaces droplets will strike are wet and the virus will stay alive on those surfaces.

Laws making it mandatory to wear masks indoors regardless of context are flawed - laws making it mandatory to wear masks while outside at all times in public places are counter-productive.

You like science right? Would you like to know more about the subject you're currently writing about? Well, sorry son, but what medical professionals ACTUALLY think about the effectiveness of masks based on their OWN commissioned studies is no longer available to you. How do you feel about that?

Where's the study showing there's no evidence masks help reduce or prevent the spread of viruses? It was actually a review of about 15 studies, with over 30 citations, and it was published in 2016 - before the emergence of TDS. Here's where it was - but it seems all of a sudden this study, commissioned in 2016 by dental professionals, nurses, medics, etc - all the people who prior to all this horseshit were the ones with an actual reason to worry about the effectiveness of masks, and which looked at over 15 different studies conducted between 2004 and 2016, and which concluded that there is no evidence that masks protect the wearer or patients, even when both wear measks, has been scrubbed from the Internet. When you go to this link now, you are greated with the following message:

If you are looking for “Why Face Masks Don’t Work: A Revealing Review” by John Hardie, BDS, MSc, PhD, FRCDC, it has been removed. The content was published in 2016 and is no longer relevant in our current climate.

Please note that the content from Oral Health Group is primarily intended to educate and inform dental professionals.

If you are looking to further educate yourself on the topic of PPE in the dental industry, we invite you to read the articles below:

See that study is just for Dentists - it concludes that there is no scientific evidence that masks protect the wearer or the patient, even if both are wearing masks - it's not for the public. We need the public to believe masks ARE effective for some reason, as that is what's relevant in the current climate. Hey DaftCunt do you think by "climate" they mean climate chage? Hmm I don't think that's what they are vaguely referring to - you got any ideas what climate they're talkin' 'bout?

I don't really know what prompted the removal of the scientific review along with it's references to over 31 other studies. MonkeyMania deleted his post when it went to the front page BECAUSE I quoted extensively from the study.

Once you get your ad homimens out of the way, take a moment to think and tell me if there's any chance you find any of the rest the least bit interesting, Mr. SCIENCE?

The Why Facemasks don't work "study" was removed because it contradicts actual scientific findings. I bet you think it is a conspiracy, lol.

This is the latest real life study carried out in Jena, Germany, proving the effectiveness of masks.

Lies propagated by libtard fools desiring to make it all a political issue and using bogus data to support a horseshit idea that has no basis in fact whatsoever.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22188875/

There were 17 eligible studies. Six of eight randomised controlled trials found no significant differences between control and intervention groups (masks with or without hand hygiene; N95/P2 respirators).

I don't know where you looked up your info, maybe from /thedonald? According to above link and quote you're dead wrong.

Your referenced study will remain - this study contradicting your study has been censored, as will any other study countering the narrative that masks are effective: https://www.oralhealthgroup.com/features/face-masks-dont-work-revealing-review/#

Also, the study you cite above - did you even read the abstract?

Eight of nine retrospective observational studies found that mask and/or respirator use was independently associated with a reduced risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Findings, however, may not be applicable to influenza and many studies were suboptimal. None of the studies established a conclusive relationship between mask/respirator use and protection against influenza infection. Some evidence suggests that mask use is best undertaken as part of a package of personal protection especially hand hygiene. The effectiveness of masks and respirators is likely linked to early, consistent and correct usage.

It's mambi-pambi language like this that is very unscientific in its conclusions about the precise and isolated effectiveness of a mask in reducing the transmission of virus through water droplets expelled that had medical professionals publicly concerned prior to TDS (and now for those who are still informed privately concerned post-TDS and post-COVID-exploitation). You work in close proximity to many different random people in a medical profession and, trust me, you're going to be curious about the actual effectiveness of masks as a tool in protecting both yourself and your patients. When it comes to public policy and the manufacture of consent, the constraints and requirements are completely different.

Why do you take your shoes off when you go through security at the airport? Do you think that actually accomplishes anything related to public safety?

If sick people would have just stayed home, and third world savages wouldn't have been licking the disease shrine then this problem wouldn't have been half as bad.

I haven't worn a mask outside of work. (Only because I was forced to go back to work. and forced to wear a mask.) Not sick once.

I also stay the fuck home.

Don't you hate it when people that don't follow the rules are perfectly fine?

It's almost like the extra precautions you take are all for nothing.

That said, this virus has done a wonderful job putting one of my enemies out of business. I couldn't have prayed for anything better.
