Description:
Did a search, couldn't find it up already, PLANES take off, passengers wander through terminals and workers tend to the jets, but this is no ordinary airport. The world’s largest model airport/railway, the Knuffingen Airport, has gone on display in Germany. The incredible model is based on Hamburg Airport and features 40 planes and 90 vehicles that autonomously move around the airport. It took seven years to build and cost a staggering $4.8 million. The model includes a “carsystem” that manoeuvres the vehicles by computer. Meanwhile tiny wires move the planes, making them appear to fly

I tried to find out to what scale this whole thing is built and came up with the following: - the entire display takes up 150 sq. meters - all of the trains at the Miniatur Wunderland are HO scale which is 1:87.1, so I'm guessing this is about the same - as of last summer the entire Wunderland included 200,000 H0 scale figures, 300,000 lights, 3500 buildings and bridges, 900 signals - and all run by a system of 40 computers.

I must have missed the part where the passengers wandered through the terminals. They really focused on the landings but right as the plane would land. Would have liked to see it come down from higher maybe from a far shot. Still cool though.

i saw no miniature TSA forcing a new mother to pass her milk through some scanner as they kept her in some box for hours or any miniature TSA searching a terrorist 5 year old.

Rightfully so. They didn't let the milk bomber and the terror children make it to the terminals. Thank you TSA!

I don't know why but I feel kinda sad for the little planes who give the illusion of, but never actually get to leave their little airport...
