A word on Ads

SpikedNation has been accepted into an affiliate program with thinkgeek.

7% of whatever you pay will go towards SpikedNation, but only if you go through our link.

We're trying to find programs like this to help pay for our servers (though it would be nice to be able to afford to host our own content), and benefit our users (you can buy nifty gadgets and know at least some of that money goes towards SpikedNation).

We're still accepting donations as well.

Just letting you guys know what's going on. Flynn will be updating this post with more details if necessary.

If you have an ad blocker on, that could explain why you don't see a link. While I'm not going to ask you to turn it off, there's not much I can do other than suggest putting SpikedNation on your ad-blocker's safe list.

if it means gifs will stay, i'll be glad to click on some links and probably buy some stuff too(a quick look shows they do intl shipping so it's cool)

There's a option with adblock (on chrome for what i use) to disable it on website you support.

I'm very happy to see affiliate partnerships formed and I know if the ads are like they were on SpikedHumor then they will be classy and unobtrusive.

I think hosting content would be very useful if we want to grow because members might share spiked links on other sites which will attract people. If we can get some unique content to become popular on reddit or something that might attract 20k views or more. Also an image gallery would be great and I know hosting for that costs money too.

I will continue to donate some $$ every month or two, if a percentage of the few thousand regulars chip in something now and then I think it would go a long way.

Think Geek is a good site. I like that its crap that I might actually buy. Those T-Shirt sites would probably be something I click. My favorite is 80stees.com they have an affiliate program on there you can set up... its down there at the bottom from the main page. I am sure other T-Shirt sites have something similar. Of course this could just be me with the t-shirt thing.

Oh well I'm sorry to have offended your sponsor...asshole. Is it ok if I still occasionally type "Fuck Ron Paul" or is that going to be censored now also? Thinkgeek screws over their customers...people have a right to know. But if they have their grubby fingers that far up your furry crack...then so be it.

Incorrect, I do not care if you offended thinkgeek or not, but you were advocating people not to shop at thinkgeek if they do not comply to your demand. I wouldn't have deleted your reply, if you just said that your points were deleted unfairly. There's a different between warning people and imply demands for your cause. I thought it was bad for the site. Plus we need the money.

I like the idea, but I 'd suggest moving the ThinkGeek banner out from the side menu, ,and maybe putting it up top next to the Spiked logo or something. As it is now, it pushes the nav panes down, which means I have to scroll more to see stuff, especially since I have the gifs and news enabled. Plus putting it up top would give them more visibility. Maybe: [Spiked Logo] sponsored by [Think Geek banner] Just my 2 cents.

Personally, I don't like ads and I block them, but I would gladly donate a few dollars to the site from time to time. If you guys make the donation link a little easier to find, I am sure more people would contribute. Maybe adding a "one click" donation link of $1 to $5 would result in more donations... the eaiser you make it for the users, the more likely they will use it...
