Request for admins to promote your content to the front page. Please include the link and explanation in the comment section below, the admins may consider promote the content accordingly, if, for example, it has been on recently uploaded too long or it has high ratings but not enough votes. Please note: The admins are under no obligation to promote your video or a specific video to the front page.

I request that anything I upload be immediately promoted to the front page because I am awesome, and I know what is best for everyone.

What about using the bottom half of the front page to list vids that have been recently uploaded or need votes (kind of like on spankwire). The first half then shows vids with favorable votes. You could extend the front page too, so you can include more vids.

lower the amount of votes it needs to pass onto the front page. The front page stays with the same videos for weeks. I go directly into the recently added when I visit

I agree with you both. Maybe introduce the voting power system again. And lower the amount of votes needed to promote a video. Nowadays I visit the recently added page a lot, where as with spikedhumor I rarely did.

I have one that I'd like to share on the front page please: http://www.spikednation.com/node/867 The first time I saw it was on SH near the end and it didn't make the front page, I put it up here and it didn't get the votes. It's one of my favorite videos ever, I love the music too. Maybe I'm just a dreamer wishing I could fly or maybe wingsuit vids are old already, I dunno.

I'm guessing they have the same system as spikedhumor. It needs 100 votes to go from the recently added to; depending on its rating. 3.0 or more goes to the front page. 2.0 -3.0 goes into the archive. 0 - 2.0 gets deleted.

Hey guys, unrelated but clicking back from a video always goes back to page 1, no matter what page you were on before. Perhaps a temporary fix would be making clicking a video open it in a new window?

I don't mean to be critical - it's just something that interests me; I think that the vote number to view ratio is just as important as the actual rating in determining the community's opinion of a video. I think a big part of the reason for this is that people online have gotten used to thumbing up something they like, going *meh* and doing nothing when they don't love it and thumbing down when they dislike. So a video could be loved by some people but too few a percentage of users to warrant it's promotion. This happens a lot with music submissions btw :) .

Dude, don't ask for it to be promoted when you only uploaded it 5 minutes before asking. The voting system is in effect for a reason, it's the filter for the site. Cool thanks Violetninja. It's a good way to find out if it's worthwhile adding more Stephen Pinker. I really liked a lot of his stuff but I'm not sure how well it will be received on spiked.
